All things Frozen!!

All I can say is it is that time of year again!!!

The combined birthday party is upon us!

Since my granddaughters birthdays are less than 7 days apart we have been
having combined parties since granddaughter #2 was born.  Makes things
much easier.  However, we did have to convince the 5 yr old that she wanted
another "Frozen" party since she was in Florida for last year's birthday we sort of did a mini Frozen party for her there.  This year she wanted a Spiderman party.  The 3 yr old still wants a Frozen party.  So I compromised and said I would put Spiderman climbing the castle wall.. Grand #1 is thrilled with this.

I was up till 2 AM cutting pieces for Rosettes for the Happy Birthday banner.
Which I plan on entering in the County Fair prior to the party!

All I can say is the "Summer" version of Frozen is a bit difficult to pull off.
I had to hunt for the right shades of paper (after buying all the ice, snow flake and blue paper)  But I think I nailed it and will be adding sunflowers too.

I received my Cricut Frozen cartridge in the mail Friday so needless to say it will get a workout.  We are also making Olaf parts so the kids can build a snowman on their own treat bag.  

I have made one card so far for the 3 yr old.


This is a cut file from SVG Cuts and super easy to assemble.

I will make another castle for the 5 (turning 6) yr old and try to include spider man..ugh.

I am always amazed at the speed in which they can change their minds on birthday party themes.  The 5 yr old went from Frozen to Bubble guppies, to Spiderman.  Thank goodness we are back to Frozen!!

Welcome to my Blog and Grumpy Grandma Creations.
I hope you are having a great time and enjoying everyone's hard work. It is hard to believe we are halfway through the year and Christmas is just around the corner! UGH!! 
Since I have a double birthday party to plan and two more weddings on the horizon I decided to go back and pick some of my favorites from the past year. 

First up is a Kiwi Lane inspired layout. I LOVE Kiwi Lane, and it is always my go to for scrapping my granddaughters books. The big reason I love them is I can use the hoard of printed paper stacks that seem to accumulate on the shelf. 
(you know you are guilty of this too!) 
Don't be intimidated by Kiwi templates they are super easy and most of the time I cut an embellishment on my Cricut and add that to it. So the cost for scrapping a double layout is minimal. Once you try them you will want them all! 

 Believe it or not I traced around some cookie cutters for
the star and ornament for this page. I made my own templates by tracing old cookie cutters onto $1.00 Tree cutting mats. So if you just can't afford a whole lot of Kiwi Lane you can make some of your own. I embellished it with some sweet little chipboards and 3D gift bags. Knowing me those came from Big Lots :) 
I should probably change my name to "Cheap Grumpy Grandma"!! 


My second contribution is a card I made for the holidays this past New Years. 
I have given up sending out Christmas cards. With one son still in the military and no one ever being home at the same time for a group photo I wait till after the holidays when life quiets down, then I send out "Happy New Year" cards. 
  

 This is a side step card. I previously posted this on Card A Day Challenge Blog (I so encourage you to follow this blog the ladies give such great inspiration!) I can't remember who I got the card template from. The Snowman,cocoa cup,and baby its cold sign are from Miss Kates Cuttables

I used the "Print to Cut" feature for the Cold sign because those little snow flakes just would not cut on any paper or setting.  
The happy new year sign is from Cricut
This is ALL Paper and since I buy it by the pound and it has no Mfg I can't tell you where it comes from.

 Here is my project for today's hop

To me bugs and summer mean a 

 glass jar with holes punched in the 

 top and catching lightening bugs at 

 sunset. 


 So when I saw this cricut cut 

 file I decided to figure out how to 

 make it 3 D and look like a jar 

 with bugs. 

 It took some doing (about 3 hrs 

 worth) but I got it done!

 for everyone.

I also glued a piece of acetate that I cut free hand and glued that to the front panel.  I have no brand for the paper since I buy it by the pound.  I used 1/8 inch strips of foam tape and doubled them to pop the front panel with the acetate on it.

Happy Saturday Everyone!!! 

I was up till 3 AM making cards for my August "Card A Week" challenge. 

I am going to try and get everything done now just in case my summer 
takes off in a direction I have only dreamed about!

    Getting out of that comfort zone!

    Getting out of our comfort zone when it comes to crafting anything is usually
    pretty difficult, especially for me!!  I have always been one of those instant gratification crafters... give me a glue gun and I will make all kinds of things.
    I learned young that needle work was not and never would be my "thing" because it is just so tedious and takes FOREVER!!  My first afghan was a total disaster. My first cross stitch was stamped and my first counted cross stitch ... well I took it out of the package and said "OH HECK NO!"  I mean it requires MATH and really good eyesight!

    I started off this year joining a couple blog hops, I was a nervous wreck thinking people wouldn't like my work, or it wouldn't be as good as the other bloggers.  Now I am hooked.

    My newest endeavor is the Card A Day Challenge Blog I will have to make one or two cards a week.  A WEEK!!   I promised to give it my best shot but honestly I fear I don't have the creative process to make that many cards and not scraplift from someone else.   We shall see !!!!

    Been super busy with planning weddings and haven't been able to create much. 

    I am about finished with a summer wreath though! 

    Will post a pic when it is done.
