LEAP Blog Hop


Welcome to 




Have we got a hop challenge for you today. 

Take the letters LEAP and create any paper crafting project;
a card, a scrapbook layout, a journal page, etc. 

Here is the trick....whatever you make must use 

L-E-A-P in it somewhere.

For example:

A lavender (L) card with embossing (E) and angled (A) with 

prills (P).

Get it. So who is up to the LEAP challenge. 

Throw a frog into your project and you've leaped 

right off the lily pad.

I purchased this SVG file from www.SVGCuts.com last Halloween. On their website it is a spooky barn with bats. I decided to make it an Easter Barn. 
I had to make something to donate to the Michael's Cares program at work so it is now there to be auctioned off ! 
My LEAP is:
L - Lavender in my paper
E- Embossed paper on the Roof 
A- Animals 
P - ummm I can't think of a P LOL!! 
But it does light up!

Cookies For Santa Blog Hop


 Welcome to the Cookies For Santa Blog Hop.This a one day hop with 10
 stops along the way that will be filled with all different kinds of cookie 
projects!

ON WITH THE HOP!!!

Some of my very first memories are of baking cookies with my grandma 
and mom.  Grandma lived next door and  I couldn't wait to get home from school and see what awesome thing she had baked every Friday. 
A lot of time she waited for me to get home or baked on Saturday once I was older so that I could help.  I was learning to bake bread by the time I was 8 yrs old.  (don't ask me to do it now, though! LOL)

 I wanted to make a "Family" cookbook but scrapbook style so I could journal about every recipe and include a photo of the family member. I want my granddaughters to know that cooking is in their blood and they come from a long line of fantastic cooks! 

My Aunt Reba was also a wonderful cook and baker.  She was a true lady and I never heard her speak an ill word about anyone.  She loved the lord and her family.  I loved going to her house because she always had lots of interesting things to look at.  

 So this is my first page for the book and it is a recipe for Spritz Cookies that are to die for.  I love them and lost the recipe for 2 years and just found it again! I am beyond thrilled that I will be able to make these cookies again this year! 


I used DCWV Christmas Creations paper stack (2014) 
And My Kiwi Lane templates for the scallops and stars. 
I inked up the stars and made them look like sugar cookies.   
The little cookie sheet is a cute little 3D embellishment (brand unknown)

12 Days of Christmas Blog Hop

WELCOME TO THE 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS Blog Hop
DAY 8!! 
Welcome to the 12 Days of Christmas Blog Hop Day 1. This hop will take place  November 24th through December 5th and the new postings each day will be posted by 8am eastern standard time. This is my favorite time of the year and I am so blessed to 
have my grandchildren close by.
This year we welcomed 3 new members to the family 
So I had to make more Christmas Stockings!  
Jaxon is my new grandson and it is his first Christmas
 I decided to go with 
Frosty The Snowman theme for his stocking.
His moms is two fun festive prints. I plan to add small 
pom pom trim to Jaxons so it looks like snow balls hanging 
off the white topper. 
For the stockings, I picked one out in Design Space. 
Cut the pattern out on my Cricut using the 12 x 24 size mat. 
I found this awesome video tutorial on Youtube 
She makes it super easy to follow along and even a beginner at sewing will have no problem.  
I added names with iron on glitter vinyl cut on the cricut. 

 I also made chair covers for the girls. Here is one of them. 

 The granddaughters just love them. A mom from my granddaughter's 
preschool made them for all the kids last year, out of felt 
but that didn't last more than 2 wks so I decided to make them out of
Christmas cotton fabric. These are super easy to make 
and I had mine finished in about 30 minutes. 
Either project would be fast and easy to do for a quick gift.

Greetings on this Spooktacular day!

I decided to raid my granddaughter's scrapbook for one of my favorite LO's! 
(that is code for I had so much to do I didn't have time to make something new!) 

Am I the only one who buys those cute holiday paper packs and then doesn't know how to use the paper because the paper is so cute you don't want to cover it up? 

I learned this technique at a class at Mega Meet and I have used it many times because I hate covering up the cuteness! 

I used my Exacto knife (make sure you have something underneath before you cut!) and cut the shapes on the paper. I then slid my photos behind in the slits and used pop dots to give it a 3D effect. My little ghosts are from Cricut Paper Doll Dress Up and I am not sure what font I used to cut the letters out on my Cricut. 


Turns out I had more time than I thought 
(Okay I stayed up till 2 AM) 

 I wanted to add a cute card I made last night.

Talk about slacking!!! 

Been a super busy month for me, school starting for my granddaughter. 
Helping my son with his last military move (and the worst one yet!) 

Working on my secret project for what I hope is my dream come true. 

And now sewing for Halloween AND I got a job at Michaels!! WOOT
I love M's and can't wait to be part of the family there and get that 30% discount!  Can I get an Amen for discounts! 

I had to take a break to make a baby shower gift for my great niece. 
Her baby shower is this Saturday...Makes me feel sooo old!!! 

I decided to make a sign for Abraham's bedroom wall and a night light, 
using my wonderful Cricut Explore !! 


For the wall art, I painted a canvas red and then white. 
Then added the Oracal 651 vinyl letters and waves 
Then roughed up the edges to bring the red out again. 
Super simple!

Here is the glass block light

I purchased the glass block with a 50% off coupon 
at Michaels. That made it about $5.50.  I had the spool of ribbon
in my stash and cut all the nautical themed shapes out 
of the Oracal 651 vinyl.  And I fully admit to snatching this idea
off of Pinterest! 

Both crafts were super easy and only took about 30 min. each.
Honestly, it took me longer to find the cut files and size them.

Back To School the three words that make every mother's heart fill with JOY! (at least that is how I felt!) 

Sadly I didn't know the joy of scrapbooking when my boys were little and even 
now I can't imagine finding the time if I had little ones. These days I am trying to be an awesome grandma and scrap my granddaughters and grand son's lives. I also remember how busy I was back then, and how busy I am now. 

I decided to showcase one of my favorite companies in this blog.  
Simply Stitched

This is a great family run company and all the kits are made in their home. 
So support a home based business and visit their website! 
Their kits come with everything you need.  From paper to embellishments. 
If I could change one thing it would be to not have the photo mats cut. 
Since I started scrapping with Creative Mem. I have a habit of cutting up my photos into shapes or odd sizes and I like to be able to do my mats to match my pictures. The great thing about the Simply Stitched kits is that it isn't all hard to match up your own papers.   


This is how the kit appears when it arrives. 


This is what is included in the kit, they stitch the printed paper to the blue. 
All photo mats are cut and the embellishment paper too. 

This kit also came with a 12 x 12 sticker sheet. All embellishments are always 
fantastic quality. 


This is my finished layout. As you can see I changed it up and that is the great 
thing about these kits. You can make them your way!  
I know that all school photos are vertical and I wanted to use this to display 
a school photo from every year. 1st - 6th grade, so I kept them all the same direction.  


Remember there is no shame in using kits or speed scrapping! 
This entire LO took me less than 10 min to make. 
The other great thing is I have at least half a sheet of stickers left over and I plan on making a corresponding layout for her Preschool and Kindergarten photos.
